Tips for Caring for Your Bouquet

  • Trimming Stems: Upon receiving your bouquet, trim the stems at a 45-degree angle using sharp scissors or a knife. This allows for better water absorption and prevents the stems from sitting flat at the bottom of the vase, which can hinder hydration. Trim the stems every few days to maintain freshness.
  • Refreshing Water: Replace the water in your vase every 2-3 days or whenever it appears cloudy. Before refilling, rinse the vase thoroughly to remove any bacteria or debris. All of our bouquets come with a complimentary sachet of flower food, add this to the fresh water to help nourish the flowers and extend their lifespan.
  • Choosing the Right Spot: Place your bouquet in a location away from direct sunlight and drafts. While natural light is beneficial, too much exposure can cause wilting and premature fading. Opt for a cool, well-ventilated area to prolong the blooms’ vitality. Avoid placing near radiators and in hot rooms
  • Re-Arranging in a Vase: As time passes, some flowers may wilt faster than others. To maintain aesthetic appeal, periodically re-arrange the blooms in the vase. Remove any spent flowers or foliage and adjust the arrangement to ensure each stem has ample space to thrive.
  • Monitoring Hydration: Keep an eye on the water level in your vase and top it up as needed. During warmer months or in heated indoor environments, flowers may require more frequent watering to prevent dehydration.

Additional Tips for Prolonging Flower Longevity

  • Avoid placing flowers near ripening fruits or vegetables, as ethylene gas emitted by fresh produce can accelerate the aging process.
  • Remove any foliage that falls below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth and maintain water clarity.
  • Consider re-trimming the stems if they become slimy or discoloured, as this may indicate bacterial contamination.
  • Rotate the vase periodically to ensure even exposure to light and encourage balanced growth.

With a little care and attention, your bouquet can continue to dazzle and delight long after it arrives at your doorstep. By following these simple tips for aftercare, you’ll ensure your flowers remain vibrant and radiant for days to come.
